Do not try to take away your dear brother’s livelihood. Do not try to snatch away what he has built with his own hands. You do not need to be involved in everything, nor does the Whole need you to be. It is enough to do a little and make that little worthwhile. What more could you wish for?
Someone goes to the river and finds a gold nugget, and soon a crowd arrives to search the same spot. How many important things are left undone, and how much time is wasted by those who abandoned their main task halfway through to search where they could not find what mattered most: their own strength, their own worth, their own expression!
I call this “chasing someone else’s shadow”, but I could just as well call it “renouncing your own will”.
If everyone chose to listen, the world could work with remarkable precision, for beyond it are the Great Architect—the “heavenly diver” from the tale—and his plan.
He, or it, did not make this world, but is responsible for reorganising it. The one who can do so by being in everyone at once. The one who can make sense of chaos and provide what is needed to hold it together.
The fundamental problem with a limited or closed mind is that it only considers the cards already on the table. It does not understand that the infinite has the power to change the hand by introducing new cards whenever they are needed. Those hidden cards are unexplored, unexpected paths.
And who could discover their own worth by walking someone else’s path or keeping their attention on someone else’s affairs?
Another person’s path is not yours to follow; at most, it can give you the strength or motivation you need to begin your own, the one designed especially for you to walk with complete success.
So let faith open within you and, with it, the possibility of reaching the transcendent! By the time your flame is alight, you will already have begun that journey without realising it, for ultimately, all Heaven requires of you is your willingness.
