The world is always saved through a new choice, and no one can choose differently while anchored to and conditioned by their past. A past that weighs too heavily. An iron mask kept in place to preserve more of the same.
And who hides behind it? Another identity. A peaceful new moon. And who imprisons it? The arrogance of those who presume to grasp the complexity of the ungraspable and judge it through the prism of their biased individual interests. And yes, that mask pursues only partisan interests. Meanwhile, the one who could see remains imprisoned, subdued, and forgotten.
Since that choice can only be made in the present, and since that mask is merely a mistake that leads nowhere, we could choose to free ourselves from it, moment by moment.
We could remember that the light hides behind its jaws. And what fool would dare judge the light and its radiance? Who would keep judging a past already replaced? Who, having just chosen differently, remains the same? And what remains of that other identity once the present has revealed the new moon?
Let them finally cast off their cloak, for the warmth has arrived! What do they need protection from now, if the storms their eyes once beheld have subsided? Autumn is behind them; the old is behind them. The radiant new leaf is ready to receive the light of an overwhelming summer.
What was once judged heartless fades into a distant memory unworthy of its hold. No one can return to the past, but everyone can choose to be reborn with each rhythmic second.
And if suffering always takes place in the present moment, there is no moment, nor will there ever be one, more deserving of our attention. The world of hatred can last an eternity or an instant, and that depends solely on the navigator’s will.
The present is always a gift, because gifts can only be given in that moment. But how many have the courage to give them? How many dare to tear off their suit? How many can let go of the cynic and his trivialities? How many can stop justifying him and take a step forward?
