Do you know why I will be free? Because I can tear down my house whenever a better idea appears, whether within the grounds of my mind or “outside” it. I can rebuild it from scratch with the new tools that come my way and that I recognise as valuable at that moment.
I have no intention of building an identity the world can buy, one I need to sell and defend to feel better about myself, only for it to become a new set of bars confining my mind and my growth. I will not be a slave to my own ideas or anyone else’s, but I will be honest enough to recognise any dazzling idea, wherever it comes from.
I can move forward without delay because the walls of my house are made of shifting flames. A house made of pure fire, pure transformation, pure transmutation. The house of an alchemist who experiments and plays with what he receives. Let’s see what potion of words emerges this time! Always open to something new, to receiving and playing.
Imagine how enslaved to their ideas someone must be to have spent their whole life worshipping the same walls. Imagine how hard it would be for them to tear down even one when it seems so solid, so real…
I said an alchemist, but the house changes so much that sometimes its inhabitant is a musician tuning his instrument. And the more he tunes it, the better his notes sound.
Some people think, “But my ideas already work for me.” I would tell them that life comes sweeping in with such hurricane force that it will knock those ideas down, and their rigidity will leave them shivering in their underwear.
By the time the iceberg appears again, you will need to have made a different decision.
Or will you choose to crash into it again?
