Because the mind is divided in two, it is in a state of constant inner conflict. If it were not, there would be absolute coherence within it, and we know this is not the case because the doubt of “what if…?” is always present. For this reason, it is constantly caught in a kind of ping-pong match. This back-and-forth creates an oscillation, and therefore a vibration.
The mind’s worldly state lies in the half that harbours fear. The net is a neutral state, and on the other side lie elevated thoughts. This text, for example, will be written mostly from the neutral state. The neutral state has the advantage of connecting more easily with the cynical part of the mind.
Neutrality alone does not bring the mind into the elevated state; it creates an opening within it, and therefore a willingness to listen. Understanding the mind’s mechanisms, which would fall within neutrality, is not enough on its own. Understanding can serve self-glorification, and those who glorify themselves for learning remain on the side of cynicism.
For this reason, an alternation between the neutral message and the elevated one is necessary. The greatest changes arise from the most elevated passions. And bringing passion to something takes great courage, because the values upheld by the elevated mind are diametrically opposed to those treasured by the material world. It is therefore a matter of rowing against the current. Those who manage to remain between neutrality and the elevated state manage to stay apart from fear.
From that higher range, they can make far sounder decisions, more closely aligned with their true Will, which is none other than the Will of God. In the game of this life, and in this particular match, each player sends the balls from the side they occupy, and the other side receives them. Both try to make the other player lose in order to bring them over to their side.
