One of the ego’s greatest fantasies, if not the greatest, is the destruction of innocence. In self-flagellation and self-punishment, it finds the fair price for its indecency. An immediate satisfaction that does not satiate. A drug that deranges and repairs nothing. Pain keeps tormenting it, and it keeps digging its pit.
It seeks redemption through death. Feeling so unworthy now, it sees its enemy in the innocent. It is repulsed by them; it loathes them. What was simple grows complicated, and deception multiplies.
The credulous and the fearful call it the devil, but it is only the blind person and their blindness. Painful, absurd blows struck blindly. Blindfolded eyes trying to find a way out by lashing out with a stick. How lost, how far from the path!
I, who try to recover the key to a door that does not exist, to a door that is always open…
May I not waste my time obstructing the brother closest to me!
May my time be for the one furthest away!
May I not toy with a goal, with time’s trickery and its schemes!
May Love be my ship, my captain, and my rudder!
May I not punish innocence!
