It is obvious that this world and this life are not easy. What may be less obvious is that they are not easy for anyone, for suffering is always lurking around the corner. There is always something waiting for you there. Something that expects you, but that you do not expect: the inevitable.
Must I live in fear? Quite the opposite. Around that corner lie the test, the lesson, the trial, the challenge. Some are enormous; others, smaller. All are equally important. Sometimes it is a blow that knocks you straight to the ground; other times, an unpleasant image that twists and twists you with it.
They all represent the same thing: love lost, love vanished. In each, a heart is cracking, a tear is slipping down. All are equally false, equally empty.
They all open an imaginary wound through which your breath of life escapes until nothing remains. Until you are reduced to nothing. We forgive to stop bleeding; we forgive to live. We live to forgive. We live to love. We live to love despite every wound, despite every mistake. We live to be willing to turn that corner with our hearts in our hands. We live to be greater than any corner.
